TITLE: Accounts Payable Clerk
SALARY RANGE: $1,771 - $2,550/month
(NOTE: new employees typically start at or near entry level)
PERSONNEL CLASSIFICATION: Accounting Clerk II
HOURS/WEEK: 28
OFFICE: 3450 Broadway, Boulder, CO 80304
DESCRIPTION OF WORK: This position performs a variety of
moderately complex accounts payable duties and is responsible for all
phases of accounts payable for Boulder County Public Health. The
position requires independent judgment in accordance with generally
accepted accounting principles.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Reconciles and processes a wide variety of accounts payable
documents, and prepares payments for timely distribution.
- Prepares accounts payable vouchers, detailing which general
ledger accounts and cost centers will be charged.
- Ensures that the information on accounts payable vouchers is
accurate and complete prior to entering the information onto the
computer and posting payment distributions to the general ledger.
- Researches payments and backup documentation when necessary,
answering questions and collaborating with vendors and staff.
- Maintains an efficient accounts payable filing system.
- Provides information to other employees as requested.
- Prepares records for proper records retention.
- Serves as assistant for BCPH the payroll function. Regular
duties include collecting, reviewing, and entering timesheet data on
a monthly basis.
- Provides backup for the BCPH payroll function.
- Performs other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High school graduate or equivalent.
Experience: Two years of computerized accounting experience,
including at least one year of accounts payable
--OR--
Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Working knowledge of professional accounting principles and
procedures, preferably as they relate to governmental accounting.
- Skill in operating office equipment, including a calculator and
personal computer.
- Strong organizational skills, including attention to details,
problem solving, and follow-through.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to cooperate and collaborate with other staff to achieve
agency objectives.
- Ability to deal courteously and effectively with staff and
vendors.
- Ability to be a self-starter and work independently, producing
accurate results in an efficient and timely manner.
IMMIGRATION REFORM AND CONTROL ACT: All new employees and

CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT: As an employee of Boulder County Public Health, you may be required to assist in response activities for disasters and emergencies (including acts of bioterrorism), which may occur outside of normal working hours. You may also be required to attend Incident Command Training (ICS) appropriate for your position.
