Food safety Web site launches May 3
Boulder County Public Health will launch a food safety Web site on May
3 that will contain information for businesses and the public, including
on-line retail food inspection reports.
These inspection reports have always been public record, but have not
been convenient to review until now. Adding these reports is part of
Boulder County's commitment to conveniently providing useful public
information.
On-line inspection reports will allow the public to view inspection
reports for Boulder County retail food facilities.
Historical inspections starting in January 2003 and updated weekly will
be posted for more than 1,200 retail food facilities in Boulder County.
The reports will categorize all health violations relative to its health
risk and provide a detailed description of each violation.
The food safety information sections of the Web site contain valuable
facts, such as proper cooking and holding temperatures for food, types of
food-borne illnesses, summer food safety tips, safe buffet dining, proper
hand washing techniques, and cross contamination control.
For businesses, the Web site offers review assistance to restaurateurs
who are remodeling or starting a new retail food business, and will
provide schedule information for the Sanitation Training Assistance for
Restaurateurs (STAR) classes that are conducted in Spanish and English.
The Web site is located at: www.bouldercounty.org/health/environ.
Follow the "Food Protection" link in the left margin. For more
information, call Joe Malinowski, Public Health Consumer Protection
Coordinator, 303-441-1197.
