In observance of World AIDS Day, local health organizations and nonprofits
will host a film and panel discussion at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, at
Hellems Room 252 on the University of Colorado campus.
"A Closer Walk: A film about AIDS in the world. A story about the way the
world is," is a powerful documentary that depicts the broad spectrum of the
global AIDS experience and includes the stories of people with HIV/AIDS from
all walks of life: AIDS children and orphans; doctors, nurses, and social
workers; human rights advocates; and prominent scientists, economists,
researchers, and government leaders. The film addresses underlying causes of
AIDS, as well as the universal need for action, compassion, and commitment
to counter what has become the worst plague in human history.
Following the film, a panel of AIDS activists who have both local and
global experience will lead a discussion, talk about their experiences, and
invite others to get involved in the fight against the AIDS epidemic.
The event is co-sponsored by Boulder County Public health, Boulder County
AIDS Project, the CU Sexual Health Education Program, and Grassroots Soccer.
