The Wellness Councils of America is a
national nonprofit membership organization dedicated to
promoting healthier lifestyles for all Americans, especially
through health promotion initiatives at the worksite.
Well Workplace Awards are awarded at the
bronze, silver, gold and platinum levels. Bronze, gold, and
silver awards recognize the organization's level of worksite
health promotion commitment, data collection, programming
and evaluation. Platinum-level awards are given to those
companies that forge even further to link health promotion
objectives with business outcomes. Driven by a predefined
set of worksite wellness criteria, organizations compete to
be recognized as one of America's healthiest companies.
The Wellness Councils of America has designed
the Well Workplace process to provide business leaders and
members with a blueprint to help their organizations build
results-oriented wellness programs. Ultimately, these
programs help employees make better lifestyle choices and
positively impact the organization's bottom line.
Since 1991, more than 900 organizations
nationwide have been recognized as Well Workplace Award
winners. The Colorado Department of
Public Health and Environment's Physical Activity and
Nutrition Program's Worksite Task Force promotes the
Wellness Councils of America blueprint as a sound worksite
wellness model. The Worksite Task Force offers resources,
tools and trainings throughout Colorado to help worksites
plan, implement and evaluate successful programs.
