Campbell’s Chunky Baked Potato with Cheddar & Bacon Bits Recalled Due to Choking Hazard
October 5, 2007—Denver—The Colorado Department of
Public Health and Environment’s Consumer Protection Division
Friday announced that Campbell Soup Company is voluntarily
recalling a limited quantity of 18.8-ounce cans of
Campbell’s Chunky Baked Potato with Cheddar & Bacon Bits.
The product may contain pieces of hard plastic that present
a choking hazard and may cause injury if swallowed.
The affected product is labeled as Campbell’s Chunky
Baked Potato with Cheddar & Bacon Bits and has JUL 08 2009
07097 imprinted on the bottom of the can. No other
Campbell’s soup products are affected by this recall.
State health officials advised consumers who have purchased
the recalled product to return it to the place of purchase
for an exchange or full refund. The product has been
distributed to Safeway and Target stores in Colorado. The
recalled soups were shipped to customers in 23 additional
states. Three consumers, none in Colorado, have reported
minor mouth injuries linked to the recalled product.
Daniel Rifkin, Wholesale Food Program manager for the
Department of Public Health and Environment’s Consumer
Protection Division, advised consumers who have purchased
this product not to eat it. “Consumers also may contact
