Allergy Alert Issued for Annie’s Naturals Shiitake & Sesame Vinaigrette Dressing

Environment officials
Wednesday advised consumers who may have purchased 8-oz.
bottles of
Annie’s Naturals Shiitake & Sesame Vinaigrette Dressing at
grocery and
natural food stores in Colorado between Dec. 20, 2007, and
Feb.12, 2008,
about potential allergic reactions due to product
mislabeling.
The dressing is being recalled as it may contain soy,
wheat and sesame,
which are not declared on the ingredients label. Individuals
who have an
allergy or severe sensitivity to soy run the risk of serious
allergic
reaction if they consume the product.
The recalled products contain a front label that says
Shiitake & Sesame
Vinaigrette, while the back label and ingredient statement
says Low-Fat
Honey Mustard Vinaigrette. Only 8-oz. bottles of the
dressing with UPC
code 0-92325-33319-2 and a “Best By” date of 02/20/09/1/E
and
02/20/09/2/E are affected. The 16-oz. bottles of Shiitake &
Sesame
Vinaigrette and other Annie's Naturals products are not
affected by this
recall. Consumers who have purchased the recalled dressing
were advised to
return the product to the place of purchase for a full
refund or call
Annie's Naturals Consumer Relations at 1-800-288-1089 to
obtain a coupon
for a free product.
The company reports that there have been no illnesses to
date due to
the label misprint.
Health officials advised anyone who has consumed the
product and is
concerned about an allergic reaction to contact a health
care provider
immediately. The product is part of a voluntary recall of
686 cases of 8-oz. bottles
of all-natural dressing initiated by the manufacturer,
Annie’s
Naturals of Napa, Calif. Consumers may contact the
