Conference to Explore Carbon Credit for Colorado’s
Agriculture and Forestry Sectors
Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008 - DENVER - Interested
ranchers and farmers are invited to attend a one-day, Dec. 4
conference, “Terrestrial (Agriculture and Forestry) Carbon
Credit Opportunities in Colorado for Landowners and
Producers (Sellers).” The conference will focus on
opportunities for farmers and ranchers to sell carbon
credits for sequestering carbon in their soils and otherwise
reducing emissions of greenhouse gases.
The conference begins at 8:30 a.m. at the Al Lesser
Building in Adams County Regional Park, 9755 Henderson Road
in Brighton.
Speakers will address such questions as: How can farmers,
ranchers and foresters take advantage of this opportunity?
Is the carbon credit right for me? What are the
environmental and economic benefits beyond the carbon
market?
Officials from the Colorado Department of Public Health
and Environment and the Colorado Department of Agriculture
will be included in panel discussions.
According to Rich Mullaney of AgriTech Consulting,
“Carbon sequestration is new to many producers in Colorado.
This workshop focuses on providing information to potential
sellers of carbon credits. The conference was developed to
give landowners and producers more information to be able to
take advantage of this opportunity.”
