Position Title:Family Self Sufficiency Career Closet Volunteer
Department:Housing and Human Services

Time Commitment or Project Date:This position requires a 6 month commitment. Hours may vary from 2-6 hours per month at Boulder location. Volunteer hours need to be performed between Monday – Friday, 8:00 am- 5:00 pm, to ensure staff support and supervision.
Program Summary:

The Family Self Sufficiency (FSS) program is a 5 year program that helps individuals move towards their educational and career goals. FSS participants meet monthly with a FSS case manager to work on setting goals so that they are moving towards self-sufficiency. The FSS program has a Career Closet for participants to utilize when they are seeking employment or attending school.  The Career Closet is available to help low income women have a selection of professional clothing.  The Career Closet is also utilized by individuals who are receiving services from agencies, like EFAA, Workforce Boulder County and Safehouse Progressive Alliance for Nonviolence, etc.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The FSS program is looking for a person who likes to work with the public, low-income women and clothing. Responsibilities include going through donations, sorting clothing, creating outfits and keeping the career closet organized. The career closet is the size of a large walk in closet and the volunteer in this position is given a lot of room to be creative with the clothing and gathering donations.  Occasionally, there might be direct client contact helping a participant with clothing selection. 

Qualifications and Requirements:

Seeking service oriented individual that is mature and has understanding of the needs of low income families. Maintaining healthy boundaries with participants and respecting confidentiality is important.  Interest around clothing for women, good organizational skills, reliable, and ability to work independently.
