Position Title:Bi-lingual Medicare/Health Insurance Oral Translator

St. Vrain Building, 529 Coffman St., Longmont
Program Summary:
The Medicare Counseling Progam provides information and education about Medicare benefits so beneficiaries can make informed health care decisions.  We also assist beneficiaries with appeals, and access to financial assistance programs for Medicare costs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist mono-lingual Spanish-speaking beneficiaries to understand the content of official correspondence, health plan information, and medical billing that they often receive written in English only.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Fluency in oral Spanish.  Ability to explain health insurance and financial assistance concepts in everyday Spanish.

Send email message expressing interest to Guio Bravo at gbravo@bouldercounty.org.  Following a telephone interview, application forms will be provided.  Background check is mandatory.  Spanish fluency will be tested.
Training Dates and Information:
Must attend 3 days of formal training in Medicare Counseling provided by Colorado SHIP.  Training location may be in Boulder, Denver metro area, or Fort Collins.
Additional Information:
This volunteer will assist Spanish-speaking Medicare beneficiaries to understand correspondence and other forms they have received in English relating to their health insurance or financial assistance with medical costs.  Occasionally this volunteer may need to accompany the beneficiary to local Social Security office to assist with translation.
