Position Title:Tutor for Family & Children Services

Time Commitment or Project Date:2 hours per week for a minimum of 4 months

Program Summary:
Housing & Human Services Volunteer Services seeks motivated individuals to provide tutoring support, academic coaching and consistent follow through with a child or adolescent (ages 9 - 15).  Tutors are willing to make a 4 month commitment of two hours a week.  Training, support and resources are provided to tutors.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Volunteer tutors will be matched with one youth involved with Child and Family Services for weekly support in academics, organizing, and socialization.  Tutors will be paired with youth for one on one support at a time and location that works for both individuals (frequently in the family home or at the community library).
Are you patient, dedicated and interested in supporting a youth in their efforts to improve in school?  There is no need to be a topic expert but rather a willingness to coach and encourage and open to supporting a child that may present with specific academic and organizational needs.  Tutors are encouraged to take breaks to build in prosocial activities and fun. 
Qualifications and Requirements:
Minimum age is 20 and completion of a background check.  Reliable transportation is a plus.
