Position Title:Mentors for Casa de la Esperanza Learning Center (youth)

Time Commitment or Project Date:minimal of 2 hours per week per semester (fall, spring or summer) to maximum of 20 hours per week
Location:
Casa de la Esperanza Learning Center, 1520 South Emery Street, Longmont, CO 80501 (southeast corner of Hwy 287 and Pike Road)
Program Summary:
The Casa de la Esperanza program was initiated to serve the 100+ children and youth living on site. The program responds to the unique needs of the dozens of farm workers families. Casa de la Esperanza's educational center is a state of the art learning center providing opportunities and resources toward excellence and self-empowerment through collaboration and programming that nurture each individual’s potential. Our vision is one of a thriving self-sustaining community sharing wisdom to transform society through today and tomorrow’s leaders, honoring those who came before us.
Duties and Responsibilities:
tutor students one-on-one and spend quality time reading, playing educational games, working on the computer, doing independent project, playing sports, etc.
Qualifications and Requirements:
aged 15 or older, own transportation or able to use public transportation. Volunteers must commit to at least 2 hours a day, once a week. Special event volunteers may assist as a onetime occurrence for a community service project, holiday party or other arrangements as determined and approved by program coordinator.

Training Dates and Information:
on-going although key times are at the start of summer session, early June and the start of each semester, August and January.
Additional Information:
Bilingual (Spanish & English) a plus; experience in education and working with immigrant populations beneficial
