The Building Divisions
function is to administer building codes in the unincorporated
portion of Boulder County. The Boulder County Building Code is
adopted by the Board of County Commissioners and consists of the
following:
Effective January 1, 2008 all permits applications to the Boulder
County Land Use Department, Building Safety and Inspections
Services Division will be reviewed and inspected under the 2006
editions (unless otherwise noted) of the following
International Code Standards:
International Building Code
International Plumbing Code
International Fuel Gas Code
International Residential Code
International Mechanical Code
International Energy Conservation Code.
National Electric Code (NEC) 2002
According to State Statutes, the Boulder County Building
Inspection Division is not allowed to require contractor
licenses. Plumbers and electricians must have a state license,
however, builders are not required to have a contractors' license.
Building permits are mandatory regardless of the license.
