Boulder County BuildSmart Program

National Registry of Accredited HERS Rating Providers

Starting May 1 2008, new residential construction and additions in unincorporated Boulder County will begin to implement requirements of the County’s new residential green building code, Boulder County BuildSmart.

These regulations will require a Home Energy Rating (also known as a HERS rating) for all new homes and additions and remodels over 500 square feet.

We encourage you to familiarize yourself with these regulations and establish a preliminary relationship with a HERS rater at this time, so that you will understand the potential effect the Boulder County BuildSmart program may have on your project.
