Wind Powered Electrical Generator Meetings & Hearings Information
Boulder County recognizes small wind electric systems can make a significant contribution to our nation's energy needs and to the county’s Sustainability Initiatives. The Boulder County Land Use Code currently regulates these facilities through a Limited Impact Special Review – (See Section 4-514.0. as noted below), and the height is limited to the maximum allowed in each zoning district. The Land Use Department has received inquiries for Boulder County to allow more flexibility regarding the installation of wind turbine facilities, and in response has indicated that this issue will be reviewed during a future Land Use Code amendment process. The various types of small wind electric systems now available (including rooftop mounted facilities) would be considered in this review. Wind Powered Electrical Generator image
