Role of the HPAB
Meeting Dates & Location

HPAB Membership

The Boulder County Historic Preservation Advisory Board (HPAB) is currently made up of seven to nine members of the local community. In order to represent a range of interests in the County, the following fields must be represented on the board:

  • Agriculture
  • Mining
  • History
  • Architect

HPAB's Role
HPAB's role focuses on review of structures and sites for historic significance (meaning: would the building or site qualify to be an historic landmark?). The HPAB also reviews and must approve building plans which result in the alteration of an historic landmark. This review process is called a Certificate of Appropriateness Review.

Meeting Dates & Locations
  • Meetings are held the first Thursday of each month in the hearing room on the third floor of the Boulder County Courthouse. The courthouse is located between 13th and 14th Streets & between Pearl and Spruce Streets in Boulder, Colorado.
  • The meetings start at 6:00 pm.
  • Each meeting is a public hearing and at the beginning of each meeting, anyone may address the Board with historic preservation concerns or questions.
Please Note: Occasionally, scheduling conflicts require that the HPAB meet at a different time and location. If you wish to attend a meeting, you may want to phone the Land Use Department at 303-441-3930 to ensure the date, time, and location of the meeting.
