Flagstaff Mountain Cultural Landscape District

Attracting residents for its scenic views since the late 1800s, Flagstaff Mountain has become a destination for local residents and tourists seeking to experience the beauty of the nearby mountains above Boulder. The Flagstaff Mountain District contains 8 contributing historic features; the Halfway House and associated restroom building, the Green Mountain Lodge and spring, the Sunrise Circle Amphitheater, the Flagstaff Summit Shelter House, the Wood Shelter and Morse Well. The Halfway House and restroom building, Green Mountain Lodge and Sunrise Circle Amphitheater were built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s and are excellent examples of the CCC construction of that period. The Boulder Lions Club constructed the Flagstaff Summit Shelter House in 1933 and the Boulder Junior Chamber constructed the Wood Shelter in 1959.
