Prebles Meadow Jumping Mouse Update

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is revising their proposal for Critical Habitat designation for the Prebles Meadow Jumping Mouse. This designation is "...a term in the Endangered Species Act used to identify geographic areas that contain features essential for the conservation of a threatened or endangered species and that may require special management or protection" (see News release below for more details).

The map link below shows the area in Boulder County being reviewed for this designation. The county and City of Boulder were previously exempted from Critical Habitat.

The county has received the USFWS proposal, but has taken no position on it at this time and should not affect the Boulder County Land Use regulations, referrals, Site Plan Review, or Building Permit procedures for the time being.
