Code Update on Noncommercial Renewable Energy Systems (previously titled
Wind Generators)
Land Use staff has introduced text amendments to the Land Use Code relating
to wind and solar energy collection systems. Docket DC-08-001 considers changes
to existing regulations [Wind Powered Electric Generators, Art 4-514(O) and
Solar Energy Systems, Art 4-516(O)] and adding new use classifications. These
regulations would only impact property owners in unincorporated Boulder County.
The Boulder County Planning Commission considered this docket on February 18,
2009, and March 18, 2009. Following the staff presentation, public testimony and
discussion, Planning Commission recommended approval of Land Use Code amendments
at their meeting on April 15, 2009. The Board of County Commissioners considered
these Land Use Code amendments at a public hearing on May, 14 2009, and approved
the revisions on June 16, 2009. The effective date will be June 30, 2009. The
approved changes will be posted here soon.
