Boulder County - District Attorneyhttp://www.bouldercounty.org/newsroom/?z=13Boulder District Attorney InformationDistrict attorney seeks volunteers to help crime victimsBoulder County, Colo. – The district attorney’s office is seeking volunteers to help crime victims and gain working experience in the justice system.

The DA’s Victim/Witness program trains volunteer victim advocates to work one-on-one with crime victims, providing support and information and guiding them through the court process. Volunteers interact with district attorneys and assist them in determining satisfactory resolutions to complicated criminal cases.

People interested in pursuing a career in law will find that the program offers an engaging education on the process of criminal prosecution, while simultaneously helping people deal with the difficult issues of crime victimization.

Boulder County offers a 30-hour training for volunteers in November that covers every facet of the criminal justice process, including related topics such as child and adult sexual assault, domestic violence, victimization, and crisis intervention and counseling skills.

The Victim/Witness program is an exciting way to gain practical experience while doing important and meaningful work and furthering the cause of victims’ rights in Boulder County. Spanish-speaking volunteers are especially encouraged to apply. Applicants must be able to make a one-year commitment to volunteer eight hours per week between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
