(NEDERLAND) -- Mountain residents can once again drop off tree limbs and slash at the Boulder County Waste Transfer Station and Recycling Center, 286 Ridge Road, Nederland. Slash will be accepted through September 6, 2009.

Slash is defined as tree limbs up to six inches in diameter. No other organic materials will be accepted. In order to ensure that space is available for each load delivered, users need to call the transfer station at 303-258-7878 to make an appointment. There is no limit on quantities dropped off if space is available.

Wood chips for use as garden mulch are available free of charge at the site while supplies last, but must be loaded by hand.

This service can be used by residents and contractors. As a reminder, county residents can also use the Boulder County and City of Boulder organic waste drop-off center at Western Disposal Services’ Transfer Station, 5880 Butte Mill Road, Boulder. This facility is open
• Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. year-round
• Saturdays 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. (March to November)
• Saturdays 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. (November to March).

The cost to use the center for residents of unincorporated Boulder County is $29 per ton in 2009, a discounted rate of 60% of the actual cost. Boulder County pays 40% of the cost of this service. Quantities less than a ton are charged a pro-rated amount.
