Commissioners plan to change regulations affecting home concerts
After consideration of the issues raised about home concerts in the public comment session on Tuesday, June 5, 2007, the Boulder County Commissioners have directed Land Use staff to schedule hearings in September regarding the change of regulations for home concerts. Additionally, based on their discretion regarding zoning enforcement, the County Commissioners have directed Land Use and County Attorney staff not to enforce against home concerts that may occur between now and the adoption of new regulations, as long as the concerts do not exceed limitations set forth in the following temporary stay of enforcement:
House Concerts – Temporary Stay of Enforcement while regulations are being considered, provided that the following criteria are not exceeded:
- A home concert is only hosted by the individuals who reside on the parcel.
- Occupancy of the building during the concert does not exceed 50 individuals.
- Home concerts do not occur more than once every 30 days at any residence.
- Home concert hours shall occur between the hours of 11 a.m.-10 p.m. and shall not exceed 4 consecutive hours.
- Outdoor amplified music at home concerts is prohibited.
Any home concert event that exceeds the above criteria will still be liable for enforcement during the time period until new regulations are enacted by the County Commissioners.
