The Boulder County Commissioners presented the
2008 Land Conservation Awards on February 18, 2009,
at 3:00 p.m. at the Parks and Open Space
Building,
5201 St. Vrain Road, Longmont, CO.

For outstanding achievement in
land preservation
through
outstanding stewardship of County-owned land and many contributions
towards the County goal to preserve agricultural land.
Environmental

Background
Since 1992, Boulder County has honored
individuals or groups with its Land Conservation Award for outstanding
contributions made to the conservation, preservation and protection of
the county’s land-based environmental resources.
These contributions have included achievements in agriculture, wildlife
habitat, forestry, open space and conservation education and volunteer
services.
Last year’s award winners were the Van Thuyne family, for excellence in
Land Conservation;
Sigrid Ueblacker with the Birds of Prey Foundation, for outstanding contributions made in Environmental Stewardship;
Dr. Alan Villavicencio, for historic preservation of the Cito Barn; and
Extension Volunteer Clarence Kneebone and Volunteer Naturalist Ann
Cooper for Outstanding Volunteer services.
