Heil Valley Ranch-Hall Ranch Trail Connection
Final Public Meeting Was Held January 12, 2006
The public hearing with the Board of County Commissioners on the Heil
Valley Ranch-Hall Ranch Trail Connection was held on January 12. On the
Lyons to Hall Ranch connection, the Board voted 2 to 1 to accept the
staff's Modified-A recommendation with the caveat that the following
issues can be satisfactorily addressed before implementation: parking,
breakaway bridge design, public safety on Old South Road, and wildlife
impacts.
The Board voted unanimously to adopt the suite of staff recommendations
for the Heil Valley Ranch to Lyons planning, including the loop trail,
connector trail, and closure area. Staff requested that the Board adopt
their recommendations as an amendment to the
North Foothills Open Space
Management Plan.

The goal of this project is to develop a multi-use trail that
connects the town of Lyons to the Hall Ranch and Heil Valley Ranch open space
properties. Nine public meetings were held to identify issues,
gather public input and review trail alternatives.
