Guide to Fishing on Open Space

At each fishing site, look for the brochure "Gone Fishing" that provides the rules and regulations, bait requirements, and fish and bag limits for each property, or download it here. Signs are also posted at each area regarding the fishing rules.

Two fishing areas in Boulder County are specifically designated for certain groups of individuals as follows:

  • Wally Toevs Pond at Walden Ponds Wildlife Habitat is for seniors and disabled individuals.

  • Cattail Pond at the Boulder County Fairgrounds in Longmont is only open to children 15 and under. This is a great place to introduce children to the sport of fishing!

With the exception of Catfish Pond at the Fairgrounds, a valid Colorado State Fishing License is required to fish on open space properties.

For more information on fishing on open space, please call (303) 678-6204.

Creel limits for all species must adhere to the Colorado Division of Wildlife regulations. Click here to download the Fishing and Property Descriptions brochure from the CDOW web site for the latest state regulations.
