Public Hearing: Weed Management on Boulder County’s Open Space
Properties
The Boulder County Parks & Open Space Department will make
recommendations for weed management policies and procedures on county
open space properties to Boulder County’s commissioners on Tuesday
January 9, 2007.
The public hearing is scheduled to begin at 5:00 pm and the public is
welcome to speak on the topic after the staff’s presentation. The
hearing will take place in the Boulder County Commissioners Hearing Room
at the
County Courthouse in Boulder.
The Boulder County weed management program is responsible for weed
control efforts on approximately 25,000 acres of Boulder County Parks &
Open Space land designated as natural areas; 7,000 acres of agricultural
leased open space land that also serves as wildlife habitat, and 685
miles of county maintained road right-of-way.
A
summary of Boulder County’s weed management policies and procedures
was recently drafted that describes major noxious weed issues in Boulder
County, and management priorities, tools and decisions. Regional
ecologists, university scientists, and land management specialists
reviewed the document and suggested changes were incorporated.
