The Harney-Lastoka trail will be closed through September 30 due to a drainageway improvement project. The project is managed by the City of Louisville.

Harney-Lastoka Open Space is located between Lafayette and Louisville. It is home to the Kerr Community Gardens and provides access to the Coal Creek Trail.

Kerr Community Gardens

The Kerr Community Gardens opened in May of 2008 and is managed by Growing Gardens, a non-profit organization. It includes over 40 garden plots of various sizes, a chicken-coop tool shed and an apple orchard. If you are interested in a garden plot, please visit Growing Gardens.

History of Harney-Lastoka

The property is locally significant in its association with Louisvilleā€™s early development as a coal-mining center. The Harney-Lastoka family represented the coal mining industry by working in mines during the winter months, while farming during the growing season.
