Household Hazardous Waste (HHW)
Hours:
Wednesdays 8 am - 3:30 pm, and Fridays and Saturdays 8 am - 12 noon.
CLOSURES:
- For
safety reasons, the facility located at 5880 Butte Mill Rd (see
map) will close for
temperatures above 98 degrees or below 32
degrees; rain or snow; high winds; and
lightening storms. Call
the HHW Hotline at 303.441.4800 to check for
closures.
- Holiday/seasonal: the facility is closed for public holidays.
Location: 5880 Butte Mill Road,
Boulder (see map). On the southeast corner of Western Disposal Services’ Waste
Transfer Station, east of Boulder. Enter through brown fence, stay to
the left of the scale house and drive straight back to the HHW site.
Stay in your car and staff will assist you.

Cost: The program serves Boulder and
Broomfield County residents only. Business wastes are not accepted.
There is no charge to residents of Boulder and Broomfield Counties, the
cities of Boulder, Lafayette, and Longmont, and the towns of Erie and
Superior. If you are a resident of the city of Louisville, the city has
instituted a $10 co-pay per visit to help subsidize its share of the
cost of the Household Hazardous Waste program. Cash or check only
please. Exact change is appreciated. Each city pays for the
participation of its residents and the County pays for the participation
of small town and unincorporated area residents.
Donations: Accepts voluntary cash donations from residents to
help fund the service. A donations box is available at the facility. Tax-deductible
receipts are available on request.
Serves: Residents ONLY. No business waste. All Boulder County
and City
and County of Broomfield residents including: Allenspark, Boulder,
Broomfield*, Erie,
Hygiene,
Jamestown,
Lafayette*,
Longmont*,
Louisville*,
Lyons,
Nederland,
Niwot,
Superior*, and
Ward. Proof of residency (for example,
your driver's license, voter identification, tax certificate, lease agreement) is required when you drop-off your
wastes.
* Denotes communities that hold annual or periodic HHW collection events for
their residents. Please call your local town/city hall for details.
