Mountain slash drop-off sites open for summer season
County residents can use sites in Allenspark and Nederland at no charge
through early September
(Boulder County, Colo.) – Two mountain “slash” drop-off sites have
opened for summer use through early September. There is no charge to
Boulder County residents to use either site.
Allenspark
Tree and brush slash* can be dropped at the Boulder County Waste
Transfer Station and Recycling Drop-off Center at 14875 Hwy 7,
Allenspark, during normal hours of operation. Due to increased mountain
pine beetle activity in the mountains, the Allenspark site is
temporarily accepting any size tree slash with no diameter limit. Trees
are being ground on-site while a permanent tree drop-off site is located
in Boulder County. The hours of operation will follow the already
established hours for the Transfer Station:
M & F: 9:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
W: 8 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
Sat & Sun: 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Closed T & Th and all public holidays
Nederland
Slash,* which includes tree limbs, branches and small-diameter trees (up
to 6” in diameter) can be dropped at the Boulder County Waste Transfer
Station, at 286 Ridge Road, Nederland,
every day - except Wednesdays - from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
In order to ensure that space is available for each load delivered,
users need to call the transfer station at 303-258-7878 to make an
appointment. There is no limit on quantities if space is available.
Service can be used by residents and contractors. Wood chips for use as
garden mulch are available free of charge while supplies last, but must
be loaded by hand.

As a reminder, county residents can also use the County’s and the City
of Boulder’s year-round organic waste drop-off center at Western
Disposal Services’ Transfer Station, 5880 Butte Mill Road, Boulder. This
facility is open Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. year-round and
on Saturdays 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. (March to November) and 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
(November to March). The cost to use the center for residents of
unincorporated Boulder County is $29.00 per ton in 2008, 60% of the
regular cost. Quantities less than a ton are charged a pro-rated amount.
Boulder County pays 40% of the cost of this service.
For more information, call the Boulder County Resource Conservation
