The trail improvements are approximately three miles long, with a primarily crusher fines surface and a refurbished bridge spanning Left Hand Creek. It begins at Lefthand Valley Grange Park and ties into the existing City of Longmont Trail system.

This project was funded through federal transportation enhancement funds and Boulder County. Federal funds are part of the Longmont-to-Boulder Regional Trail Connections project for which Boulder County was approved for funding in 2007. Boulder County used dedicated funds for trail implementation passed by Boulder County voters in 2001 and extended in 2007.
