Sheriff Joe Pelle The Boulder County Sheriff's Office is charged with meeting the diverse public safety needs of the nearly 302,525 (2007) residents of the County. The Sheriff maintains the County Jail, coordinates search and rescue efforts, handles civil process and evictions, provides animal control services, responds to hazardous materials events, oversees the operation of a cooperative, county-wide radio and telecommunications center, and provides public safety services to the nearly 57,000 residents of unincorporated Boulder County. Meeting these needs are Sheriff Joe Pelle and the approximately 350 deputies and employees, and over 200 volunteers of the Boulder County Sheriff's Office.
