Green & Red Channel - Live Radio

About the Live Feed

• We are using two retired Motorola HT1000 handheld radios, which are hooked to a half wave dipole antenna high a top the Pearl Street Court House.
• The Green Channel (155.145 MHz) is the primary Law enforcement channel for Boulder County, Excluding the Cities of Longmont and Boulder. The Green Channel should primarily play out of your right speaker.
• The Red1 Channel (154.220 MHz) is the Red 1 Central Repeater channel for Boulder County, Excluding the Cities of Longmont and Boulder. Red1 should play primarily out of your left speaker.
• The Radios are connected to a Dell Optiplex GX240, 1.7GHz Pentium 4, with 512MB of RAM, running Windows XP. We're using a SoundBlaster Live 5.1 audio card. The audio is encoded by SimpleCast in MPEG Layer-3 at 40kb/s bitrate, 22050Khz samplerate and stereo (2 channels). From here the audio is sent to Scan America.

"Dear Boulder County Sheriff: It is Friday 8-16 at about 3:30 p.m. I am smelling smoke and wondering if there's a fire somewhere. I got on the Internet trying to get information from some of the Denver news channels websites....to no avail. I then checked your website and came across the live feed to your dispatch. I listened for a few minutes and pretty much figured out that there might be a few small fires around but that the thinking was that the smoke was from the Western slope. I'll see if this is true when the news comes on later but it is just wonderful to be able to have my concerns answered this way rather than fretting or calling you.
