Adolescent Children
A number of the youth who are waiting for homes are adolescents.
|
 |
|
Permanency
ensures that the adolescents have "family support" to help guide
them along in life. Just knowing that one has a loving and
supportive family to go home to is sometimes all that is needed
for a maturing young man or woman.
Adolescents need
someone with whom to share their lives, someone to call, or someone who
cares.
There are many myths that surround adolescent care. |
 |
Many people believe
that older children are less likely to be influenced by structure and
guidance and are more likely to have problematic behaviors.
Actually, this is
not the case.
 |
In fact,
many adolescents really do want a family who will offer them the
love and support that they never received in their birth
families.
Adolescent
foster youth are very sociable and have an incredible amount of
energy and talents to bring to a new family. Not only will they
teach their new parents how to use the computer, but they will
also become their best friends.
|
Most importantly,
when considering adopting an adolescent instead of a young child, always
remember: NO DIRTY DIAPERS!
Teens Need Homes!
There is currently a
high need for Adolescent Foster homes in Boulder County. Some
adolescents are recovering from substance abuse and require an
alcohol-free home.
If you would like to
be a Foster Parent for an adolescent youth, please contact Cindy at
303-441-1089 and she will direct you to an Adolescent Specialist who can
answer more of your questions.
