History

The Boulder County Post-Adoption Services Program was created four years ago to provide support to families who have adopted children.

The program is run through the Resource Family Team at the Department of Social Services.

The program serves families who have either adopted from the Boulder County Department of Social Services or who have adopted elsewhere and currently reside in Boulder County.

Services

The Boulder County Post-Adoption Services Program provides a wide range of services to meet the needs of adoptive families. Services include but are not limited to:

• Adoption Competent Staff available to meet with you in your home
• Kinship Support Advocate available to meet with you in your home
• Family Advocacy
• Monthly Discussion Group
• Family Fun Events
• Financial Assistance
• Lending Library
• Educational Workshops
• Conference Scholarships
• Information on Community Resources

The Boulder County Post-Adoption Services Program offers one Adoptive Parent Discussion Group and three Kinship Parent Support Groups.

The groups are an excellent way to meet other parents, discuss challenging issues, and build a supportive network. Childcare and a light supper are provided.

The Boulder County Post-Adoption Services Program is funded by the Boulder County Commissioners, the Promoting Safe and Stable Families grant and a grant from the Administration for Children and Families through the Colorado Coalition of Adoptive Families.
