Longmont-to-Boulder: N. 83rd Street to 95th Street
Project Description:
The
Longmont-to-Boulder (LOBO) Trail is a planned regional trail between
the City of Boulder and the City of Longmont. The 83rd to 95th
trail is a critical segment of the planned system
As currently planned, the trail segment
will begin at the Left Hand Valley Grange Park in Niwot and continue
north to the existing City of Longmont trail system at 95th Street and
Left Hand Creek.
The currently planned trail alignment is identified in
the
Niwot Area Trails Master Plan (1.3 MB, PDF) completed by Boulder
County Parks and Open Space Department in 2006. The alignment follows 83rd Street north from the Left Hand Grange Park; turns
east across County Open Space parallel to State Highway 119; and cross
under N. 95th Street Bridge at a new bridge over the
trail and creek.

2006 Niwot Area Trails Master Plan:
In 2006, Boulder County Parks and Open Space worked with
the public to develop the
Niwot Trails Master Plan. The plan was developed to provide a
strategic guide for the implementation of a trail network for the Niwot
Area. The Master Plan designated two routes connecting Niwot to
Longmont. The first route runs adjacent to N. 83rd Street and SH119. The second route utilizes open space along Dry Creek and
traverses across privately owned property east of Niwot as it traverses
north to SH119 before crossing over to N. 95th Street. Boulder
County Transportation is able to move forward with the first route
because most of the necessary property is within the County's right of
way and open space properties.
