Longmont-to-Boulder (LoBo) Trail
Overview:
The Longmont-to-Boulder Trail is a
12-mile planned trail that is part of the trail system in Gunbarrel,
Niwot, and County Open Space Properties that connects the City of Boulder
with the City of Longmont.
The
primarily soft-surface LoBo Trail was identified in the 2003 Regional
Trails planning process as preferable to a hard surface connection
originally planned to be directly adjacent to the Diagonal Highway.
Instead, some spot improvements to the shoulders along the highway were
identified for a hard-surface connection for bicyclists with the LoBo
Trail serving as a more meandering connection for both recreational and
commuting use.

Longmont-to-Boulder Trail Connections

Boulder County is

construct missing trail segments between Longmont and Boulder and to replace the
95th Street bridge

The project includes:
These projects have been
approved for federal transportation enhancement funds. Additional
funding for the two trail segments is from the countywide Transportation
Improvement program approved by voters in 2001, and from the City of
Longmont for the 95th Street Bridge segment. Construction of the 95th
Street Bridge replacement is anticipated for winter of 2010 with trail construction to follow.
