Community Services/Public Health

Volunteers Needed to Help Survey Youth in Middle and High Schools -  weeks of November 9 (Boulder Valley middle schools) and November 16 (Boulder Valley and St. Vrain Valley high schools)
Boulder County Healthy Youth Alliance and Boulder County Public Health are looking for help in administering the Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS) during the weeks of November 9 (Boulder Valley middle schools and November 16 (Boulder Valley and St. Vrain Valley high schools).  Students in randomly selected classes take the survey during a class period on the days designated by the schools.

The data collected has been invaluable to the school districts and local youth serving agencies in developing effective intervention strategies and programs impacting youth.

The time commitment includes a one-hour training, times listed below, and about 1.5 hours on the day of the survey.  A sign up for specific schools, dates and times will be available at the trainings.

If you are interested in helping with this very important effort or have any questions, please contact Meca Delgado at 303-441-1607 or email mdelgado@bouldercounty.org.  Let Meca know which training you will be able to attend.  If you are unable to make one of the training dates, please let Meca know and alternate arrangements will be made.

All volunteers will need to attend a short training on one of the following dates:

Tuesday, October 13, 12:00-1 pm., Boulder
Tuesday, October 13, 4:00-5:00 pm., Longmont
Wednesday, October 14, 4:00-5:00 pm., Boulder
Thursday, October 15, 12:00-1:00 pm., Lafayette

Housing and Human Services

Neighborhood Walkers (late November - January)
Boulder County Housing and Human Services is looking for volunteers to distribute doorhangers in low income neighborhoods.  The doorhangers publicize under-utilized governmental programs such as the child health plan (CHP+), Medicaid, home weatherization help and Food Stamps.  This is a good way to ensure that families will stay warm, healthy and fed this winter.  Distribution is scheduled to take place over select weekends from late November through January.
Please contact Joan Nagel, Boulder County Housing and Human Services at jnagel@bouldercounty.org or call 303-449-5135.
