Building a Healthy World, Healthy People
 

Latina Community Health Specialist

Are you passionate about eliminating health disparities?  We need a Latina Community Health Specialist to provide assistance to our Tobacco Education and Prevention Partnership (TEPP) in a pilot project aimed at reducing exposure to second-hand smoke. You must be proficient in Spanish and feel comfortable working with staff in beauty salons.  Help with collection of data, report updates, and provide assistance in the evaluation of the pilot project to TEPP program staff."

You Can Help A Lot at the ARC
(Addiction Recovery Center)

You can help people overcome addictions to alcohol and drugs when you join a team of professionals at the Addiction Recovery Center!  Help with admissions, discharges and crisis intervention, assess and monitor the physical status of clients (vital signs, medical history, etc.)  Provide substance abuse education to clients and family members.  May also help with breathalyzer testing, bed checks meal preparation, and laundry.

This position is a one-year commitment and requires two four-hour shift per week. If a former substance abuser, you must have at least two years of sobriety and three years since discharge from treatment (outpatient or inpatient of Boulder County Public Health's ARC) to qualify for volunteering.  Training is provided.

Drive Detox Clients to AA Meetings

You can be a real help to a recovering Addiction Recovery Center (ARC) client at Public Health.  Drive clients to and from their local Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meetings to help ensure they receive the benefits of attending.  You will be trained by the shift supervisor and staff Detox counselors as to what is expected of you as a volunteer driver.

A background check is required, along with a current driver's license and a good driving record, plus evidence of auto insurance.  You will be in an "on-call" list and will be reimbursed for mileage.

What do you get out of this effort?  The TREMENDOUS satisfaction of knowing what a big help you are to the recovery of another human being working toward wellness.

If you have a history of substance abuse, you must have a minimum of two full years' abstinence and three full years since discharge.
