Who We Are
The Youth Corps provides opportunities for Boulder County
teens to develop a sense of community involvement through personal
accomplishment, teamwork and service to the county. Since 1996,
participants, aged 14-17, have been completing projects chosen by Boulder
County’s Parks & Open Space Department, Facilities Division and Housing Authority, as
well as the municipalities of Lafayette, Longmont, Louisville, and Superior.
Corpsmembers
are recruited county-wide, undergo a selective hiring
process, and are paid for eight weeks of public service
during the summer. Participants work collaboratively on
teams supervised by Youth Corps Team Leaders as well as
mentors from the sponsoring agencies. Participants benefit
by learning strong work habits, new skills and the value of
environmental and civic stewardship, and in turn the county
and participating municipalities benefit from the
maintenance projects and tangible products such as new
trails built by Corpsmembers each summer.
