Female Corpsmember 1 Youth Corps to me meant hanging out with a bunch of kids my age, working for a living, instead of sitting around having everything handed to me on a silver platter. It taught me the meaning of hot and hard work, giving me a bunch of new skills to work with in the future and a chance to exercise leadership skills that were small in the beginning and slowly grew. It was just a big growing experience. Male Corpsmember 1 Youth Corps meant it was a first time job basically. It gave me a first experience of how the real world is. Everyone says the real word is completely different from your childhood and the Youth Corps is an entrance door to your jobs and your career. And you get your first paycheck and it feels really good. Male Corpsmember 2 Youth Corps meant an opportunity. It was something to do over the summer and not a lot of people get an opportunity like this this young to do a job working outside instead of inside stocking shelves or being behind a counter or anything like that. It's really an opportunity and a good one at that. Female Corpsmember 2 Well, it meant a lot to me because I got to help the community and I earned my own money. It was just a lot of fun. I met a lot of great people. It was a lot of fun and meant a lot to me. Male Corpsmember 3 What's my favorite thing about Youth Corps? I'd say my favorite thing about Youth Corps is being able to work outside all day and being able to take care of myself instead of always having to rely on other people for money. Male Corpsmember 4 I think doing Youth Corps gets you motivated for the summer. You get to do a lot of stuff that you want to do. It's something to do over the summer instead of staying inside being lazy. It's an activity.
