Boulder County is in the process of developing a stream restoration design for Lower Fourmile Creek, which is the portion of the creek located between CO Highway 119 (Boulder Canyon Drive) and Salina Junction. Draft designs are expected to be completed in the fall of 2016. Funding for the designs was provided by a Community Development Block Grant – Disaster Relief (CDBG-DR) planning grant through the Colorado Watershed Resilience Planning Grant Program to complete the stream restoration 30% design.
Conceptual designs are currently available for review. The conceptual designs an early representation of the design and changes should be expected.
A portion of the design area has been identified for funding through the Natural Resource Conservation Service’s Emergency Watershed Protection (EWP) Program. The EWP program provides financial assistance for implementation of approved creek restoration plans. Boulder County intends to sponsor the Lower Fourmile Creek EWP project. The Fourmile Creek Watershed Coalition has received funding to implement a stream restoration project in the upper section of lower Fourmile Creek.

Boulder County will implement the stream restoration project as part of the Fourmile Canyon Drive Road Reconstruction, which is anticipated to begin in the spring of 2017.
Please note that a majority of the work will be completed on private property. Property owners who wish to be involved with the stream restoration effort will need to sign a Participant Agreement that gives Boulder County permission to implement work on private property and allows the county to conduct operations and maintenance activities for three years after the project construction. Construction of all EWP projects must be started by April 2018. The county anticipates completing implementation of all stream restoration projects under this program in 2017.
