Election Data Request

To order or request data (including old election data, items) from the Elections Division, please complete the below form.

No data requests can be processed until payment is received if your request requires payment. If your request requirements payment, you will receive an email with your data request along with payment instructions. Payment can be made over the phone, in person, or by mail. Please allow up to 3 business days for a staff member to be in touch regarding cost.

Not all data requests do require payment. Please complete the form and you will be notified if your request does requires payment due to significant research time. We will not complete your request without your acknowledgement to move forward if this is the case. Some requests may be considered an Colorado Open Records Act – CORA (and some charges may still apply). Our office will let you know if we believe your data/research request falls under this category.

Note that if your data order requires pick-up, this is only available in our Boulder office.

General Info on Data Requests

Unless noted, voter data report files are provided as comma separated text files (CSV files). Delivery of these exports is provided via download from a secure website. Our office will email you a link to the website once order is ready.

Voter Data Report File Descriptions

Master Voter File (VR-011): This file contains relevant details for active and inactive registered voters in Boulder County; confidential voters are not included. This file is useful as a simple voter list for voter communications.

Filtered exports are available on request for the following: Jurisdiction Type, Districts/Precincts, Precinct Splits, Party, Voter Status, Status Reason

Export includes the at minimum the following fields: Voter ID, Voter Name, Residential Address, City/State/Zip, Phone Number, Registration and Effective Date, Party, Affiliation Date, Status/Status Reason, Mailing Address, Mailing City/State/Zip/Country, ID required, Gender, Birth Year

Vote History File (EX-002): This file contains relevant details for active and inactive registered voters in Boulder County; confidential voters are not included. The exports, which include the voter’s voting history in all elections, can be used to build a historical database of voting activity and for voter communications. Two types of files are created during this export and are referenced together by the common field of Voter ID. Due to the complexity of this data, a database application such as Microsoft Access is recommended.

Filtered exports are available on request for the following: Jurisdiction Type, District Type, Party, Voter Status, Precinct

Export data at minimum includes: Voter ID, Election Type and Date, Election Description, Voting Method, Party, County Name, Voter Name, Registration and Effective Date, Last Date Updated, Old Voter ID, House Number Unit Type / Number, Street, Name/Type, Residential Address City/State/Zip, Mailing Address City/State/Zip/Country, Voter Status, Gender / Birth, Year, Precinct Code, Precinct Name, District Type (Description)

Mail Ballot and In-person Voting Report (CE-068): This file contains relevant details for active registered voters in Boulder County; confidential voters are not included. The export, which include the voter’s current mail and/or in-person voting status, can be used to identify voters who have or have not voted yet or who must “cure” their ballot envelope in order to have their ballot processed – such as voters who are missing a signature, have a signature discrepancy, etc. If ordered for an election, this report is provided daily — Monday through Saturday morning (no Sunday) after the ballots are first mailed to voters. Final reports are issued the day after election day and then again after the certification deadline.

Export data at minimum includes: Voter ID, Name, Year of birth, gender, party, phone, UOCAVA status, precinct, mailing and residential addresses, vote method, mail / in-person ballot sent/received date.

Undeliverable Ballot Voter File (BP-007): This PDF file contains relevant details for voters in Boulder County who were recently mailed a ballot but that ballot was returned to us by the USPS. Confidential voters are not included.

PDF Report is provided daily during election purchased.

PDF data includes: Voter ID, Voter Name, Temporarily Away Status, Received date of undeliverable ballot for election cycle in progress
