After years of collaborative work with staff, elected officials and local partners, Boulder County has released its Environmental Sustainability Plan. Learn more

The County Commissioners declare:

"By prioritizing environmental sustainability, we can achieve higher economic vitality in our communities, ensure cleaner air and water for the well-being and public health of our residents, and combat major environmental issues, such as climate change. By striving to become as environmentally sustainable aspossible, we are supporting myriad human and environmental benefits for our county and beyond."

Supporting a Sustainable Future: A History

In late 2005 the Boulder County Commissioners adopted two resolutions stating the county's commitment to energy and resource conservation, waste reduction, pollution prevention and other sustainable practices. The resolutions required the creation and implementation of action plans setting the direction and specific actions to move toward zero waste and energy conservation.
