Restaurant Inspections

Boulder County Public Health staff work with food facilities by providing both consultations and regulatory inspections. Facilities are scored according to the Colorado Retail Food Codes and earn a rating of Excellent, Good, Fair, Marginal or Unacceptable based on observations during the regulatory inspection.

Violations

Critical violations, or those violations that are more likely to cause a foodborne illness, are assigned a higher point value than less critical or non-critical violations.

Inspections Are a Snapshot

One inspection may not represent the overall, long-term food safety practices of a facility. On any given day, a restaurant may have greater or fewer violations than noted in the most recent regulatory inspection rating.

See members of our Partners for Food Safety Program. These restaurants go above and beyond to ensure food safety. The program is voluntary, but it requires that a facility meet all of the program criteria in order to receive recognition.
