Better understand the effects of poverty in Boulder County — Participate in a poverty simulation Saturday, Oct. 19 in Longmont

These three hours will open your eyes about the lives of the working poor

Boulder County, Colo. - Understanding about poverty in our community will make a difference in how you react to it. To help fill that knowledge gap, the Boulder County Community Action Programs (CAP) is holding a Poverty Simulation on Saturday, Oct. 19. Take three hours out of your weekend and learn what the working poor must deal with every day.

What: CAP Poverty Simulation
When: Saturday, Oct. 19, 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
Where: United Church of Christ of Longmont, 1500 9th Ave.
RSVP: Reservations required at 303-441-3972 or mleon@bouldercounty.org

Participants in this dynamic, hands-on experience are given a budget to work with and then must make the real choices required of families with limited resources. Can you afford healthy food for your family, and if not who goes hungry? What bills do you decide to pay this month? What do you do when a child or parent gets sick and you don’t have insurance?

These three hours can help you better understand the problems faced by many in our community. Three hours that can guide how you respond to poverty in Boulder County.

The event is free, but reservations are required. For more information about the event or to RSVP, contact 303-441-3972, or mleon@bouldercounty.org.
