Boulder County Commissioners respond to the shooting at King Soopers in Boulder

Our hearts are broken by this violent attack in our community and our thoughts remain with those who lost loved ones today. The trauma we witnessed this afternoon will have lasting effects on the residents of Boulder County and we extend our sympathy to everyone who has been impacted.

It is enormously tragic and difficult for all of us to have to endure another mass shooting tragedy, this time right here at home, and we draw from the deep well of community that exists in Boulder County to help us deal with the grief we feel.

We appreciate the immediate action taken by our law enforcement and first responders, including officers from Boulder Police, Boulder County Sheriff, area EMTs, and those who assisted from neighboring agencies. Having just learned of the horrific loss of life, we mourn the passing of Boulder peace officer Eric Talley and the nine community members who perished in this unspeakable act of violence.
