Boulder County, Colo. -- Open Enrollment for free, low-cost, and/or subsidized health coverage through Connect for Health Colorado (Affordable Care Act private insurance market) ends Jan.15.

Boulder County Housing and Human Services (BCDHHS) Health Coverage Guides are hosting virtual enrollment events to help community members select the right insurance for their families and their budget.

  • Boulder County residents can call 303-441-1000 (option 3) to leave a message to schedule a virtual appointment with an expert Health Coverage Guide.
  • During appointments, bilingual, unbiased Health Coverage Guides can help residents confirm that they have the right coverage for their budgets and families, highlight the available financial assistance, and answer questions.

Note: Virtual appointments are available weekdays during regular county business hours (8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.).

Getting the health coverage you need

Most Coloradans can get health insurance through Connect for Health Colorado. Health coverage is widely available and statewide rates are more affordable than ever before. Many individuals and families are also eligible for discounts on their coverage. People who have recently experienced a job loss or reduction in income may be eligible for free, low-cost and/or subsidized health insurance. In 2020, the average monthly savings for health coverage for those who received financial assistance through Connect for Health Colorado was $370.

“Health coverage is more important than ever. Access to affordable, adequate health coverage allows families and individuals to get preventive care and necessary medication, and manage unexpected life events,” said Dale Whyte, Program Manager, BCDHHS Assistance Site. “During the pandemic, adequate health coverage can help individuals and families prevent the spread of COVID-19. Many people who have relied on employer-provided health coverage now need an alternative due to a reduction in income or due to a job loss.”

Residents who need financial or other supports can contact Boulder County to sign up for a wide range of benefits that are currently available, including food, financial, and childcare assistance, unemployment benefits and business loans, free or reduced-cost health insurance, and more.
