Caregiving Symposium, Thursday May 17—Information and support for family caregivers

Complimentary lunch included if registered by May 9

Boulder County, Colo. - The 13th Annual Caregiving Symposium will be held from 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m., Thursday, May 17 in Longmont.

The event is designed for Boulder County residents who provide care for older relatives, partners or friends. It provides family caregivers the opportunity to visit with service providers, enhance caregiving skills, learn about eldercare issues, and share with each other. The Caregiving Symposium is sponsored by the Boulder County Area Agency on Aging, a division of Community Services, and TRU PACE.

Cost: Free. Lunch is included for those who register by May 9

The full agenda and list of workshops is available online. General admission free, but registration is required. Registration can be completed by calling 303-441-1685 or visiting Walk-in registration is possible, but does not include lunch. Caregivers are welcome to attend all or only part of the event. Financial assistance for respite care (substitute elder care) is available; call 303-678-6284 to learn more.

The Caregiving Symposium features a resource fair of 80-plus local service providers, complimentary lunch, informative workshops on topics such as dementia, self-care for the caregiver, Medicaid, current trends in technology, end of life care, navigating challenging conversations, and more. A family caregiver who regularly attends the annual Caregiving Symposium says, “I wouldn’t miss this event. Each one helps me learn more about being a caregiver and reminds me that there’s a lot of support available in our community.”
