Climber falls 20 ft. in Eldorado Canyon State Park
26 year old male climber falls 20 ft. in Eldorado Canyon State Park, Boulder County, CO
Boulder County, Colo.
On January 29th, 2017, at about 3:00 p.m., members with the Boulder County Sheriff's Office, Rocky Mountain Fire Protection District, Rocky Mountain Rescue Group, Colorado State Parks and the Boulder County Sheriff's Office Emergency Services responded to Eldorado Canyon State Park, located at 9 Kneale Road in Boulder County, Colorado on the report of an injured climber.
Sam Rossabi, a 26 year old male, was climbing the Fox Trot route on the west ridge of Eldorado Canyon State Park. Sam, a Boulder resident, is an experienced climber and was using ropes for his climb. He said one of his foot holds gave way and he estimated falling approximately 20 feet. Sam landed on his head and neck, receiving a cut to his forehead, but did not lose consciousness. Luckily, another climber, who is a nurse, was able to provide care until rescuers could arrive on scene.
Sam was put into a neck brace and was able to walk back to the trail head parking lot himself. He was transported to a local area hospital for treatment by a Rocky Mountain Fire Protection District ambulance.
