Crime Spree Ends

Crime Spree in Larimer and Boulder Counties is Over

Boulder County, Colo. --On Wednesday, November 30, 2016, at approximately 5:30 pm, Boulder County Communications received a 911 call at the Praha Restaurant, located near 75th Street and Ute Highway, in unincorporated Boulder County, Colorado, about an individual attempting to steal cars from the restaurant parking lot. The suspect had abandoned a vehicle he had stolen earlier in the day from an address in Larimer County. When confronted by staff and vehicle owners, the suspect threatened one employee with a knife. One person on scene used a stun gun on the suspect, who then fled and subsequently stole a vehicle from a nearby house. Boulder County Sheriff's deputies pursued the suspect through Boulder County, before terminating the pursuit due to the suspect's dangerous and erratic driving. The suspect eventually made his way into Larimer County, where multiple other agencies pursued and captured him. The suspect was arrested in Loveland, Colorado. The Boulder County Sheriff's Office case number for this incident is 16-7340.

Due to the crime spree beginning and ending in Larimer County, the Larimer County Sheriff's Office has become the lead agency for this case. Below is a copy of the Larimer County Sheriff's Office's Facebook posting about the incident. As of now, the Larimer County Sheriff's Office will be handling all future media inquiries into this incident. Please forward all media requests to them.

Larimer County Sheriff's Office Facebook posting:

"Suspect in Stolen Vehicle Pursued and Arrested:

At about 3:00 p.m., LCSO was involved in a vehicle pursuit of a possible intoxicated driver in a stolen vehicle in the Owl Canyon area. Due to the suspect’s extremely dangerous driving, the pursuit was terminated.

That vehicle was later spotted driving southbound on I25 and it crashed near the Berthoud exit at about 4:00 p.m. The suspect ran west to a house and stole another vehicle before deputies were on scene. Deputies searched the area, but did not locate the suspect or the newly stolen vehicle.

Just before 6:00 p.m., LCSO learned the suspect reportedly stole another vehicle from a person in Boulder County. Multiple agencies pursued the suspect as he drove northbound on 287 into Loveland. Spike strips and PIT maneuvers were used to stop the pursuit and the suspect was taken into custody near S. Lincoln and 8th Street SE at about 6:10 p.m. There were no reports of serious injuries to anyone involved.

Due to the number of criminal offenses committed by this suspect and the number of jurisdictions involved, a full press release will not be available until tomorrow. LCSO will be the lead agency for public information."
