Boulder County Parks & Open Space hosts Summer Heritage Day: Old Fashioned Jobs

Sunday, June 10, at the Walker Ranch Homestead

Boulder County, Colo. - Boulder County Parks & Open Space is hosting the Summer Heritage Day: Old Fashioned Jobs event at the Walker Ranch Homestead on Sunday, June 10, at Walker Ranch.

Visitors will learn about the chores and jobs of the late 1880s and can take part in several activities throughout the day such as hands-on craft projects, one-room school sessions, and drilling like a miner. Kids will especially enjoy pretending to shop in a general store and being part of a bucket brigade.

Costumed volunteers demonstrate other chores that helped a ranch run such as preparing meals on a wood stove and blacksmithing.

Visitors are encouraged to bring a picnic supper and blanket to enjoy at the event (there are no tables at the homestead).
